Hi My friend, I took a few shots of my bed and my room for you. Not very tidy I am afraid, but I couldn't straighten it out. Should have waited till the nurse came :D
Four of us in the ward, as I was in as a public patient. They came and went quickly. One lady in her nineties, was there the first night, but was transferred to a private room. Fortunately as she had heaps of visitors and they were quite noisy.
This as you can see is the toilet which the four of us shared.
And a not very good shot of the shower. Again we all shared. We were all women. There was a young girl in on Thursday night, she didn't talk to any of us and luckily for us went home on Friday. They then brought Barbara in, who had been in with three men. She had had a melanoma removed from her leg and was confined to bed. She was very upset when they took off the dressing as it was bigger and deeper than she had expected. Quite a shock for her. Still better to take more than leave some cancer.
Elizabeth was in the other bed and she had a gall stone which they removed on Friday. She was still there when I went home on Saturday. She talked even more than I do. (I think :) )
I must say that I am pleasantly surprised at how little discomfort I am feeling. I am quite bruised, but except for the first two days, not overly sore. I am restricted in what I am allowed to do, and I am feeling quite tired. Especially today as I have had a house full, plus been in and had fresh dressing. Looking forward to going to be very soon.
I lost 500 grams of one side and 600 grams of the other. So looks quite good, or will when the swelling and bruising goes. Wont embarrass you with pictures :D
Have home help coming into clean tomorrow and again next week. That is through the hospital and doesn't cost me anything. Then I think I will be able to get help through our local council and a very reduced rate for another 3 - 4 weeks. So what with all my friends bringing food and helping I should be ok.
You keep well and cool. I will snuggle up and keep warm :) Your loving Aussie friend.

Great! You're home again! :D And seems like your healing process is nicely on the way, too. Don't wonder why you're tired - your body is now in quite a shock and the energy goes to getting you healthy. It takes a bit of time, but when it's over you're so much better, I believe.
The ward of four with their own toilet and a shower seems quite nice. Here in Finland we have rooms for eight to twelve. Beds really close together. Toilets and showers are on the hall that you share with all the patients there. Can be over 70 people all in all. Only if you are quarantined, you may have a private room for isolation (not every time). But the rooms are for the women and men only, not mixed and also showerrooms are marked for males and females.
Now that it's summer vacation time and the government wants to save money, they have closed many wards for this month (don't need to pay for the summer jobs) and the patients are sent home or to other wards, even sleeping in the hallways, that feels so stupid. Like humans has no value any more.
But in your case it went quite nicely. And thanks for the photos!
Have a fast recovery and take care!
