Jayden came over on Friday night. Took him home again Saturday afternoon. Spent some of Friday cutting down a tree that was growing under the power lines. Then Saturday trimming it off so that I can hopefully borrow a mulcher. Garden desperately need some mulch to keep down the weeds.
Sunday I was up early (for me) and went down to Lara to pick up my mother-in-law to take to a family reunion. She is the only one left of her generation, but a lot of her nephews and nieces get together somewhere every year about this time. This time it was a Barwon Heads, which is about 30 kms from Lara.
This is looking towards the bridge over the inlet.
This is to the left.
This looks like a lovely path along the foreshore, but didn't have time to take a walk.
This is the shelter where we set up our tables and chairs. It wasn't a very nice day. The wind was fairly cool. It had rained nearly all the way down to Mum's, which takes me over and hour and a half, but had stopped by the time I got to her place, and didn't rain again for the rest of the day, luckily.
The little person in the centre with the red coat is Nancy, my mother-in-law, with her nephews and nieces.
These are the husbands and wives of the nephews and nieces.
Some of their children where there too, but there were too many to include everyone. It was a good day, and good to catch up with some neither Mum nor I had see for many years.
My friend Cheryl, who lives in Altona, which is on the way home, rang me whilst I was taking Mum to do some shopping on the way home, so I decided to call in and see her. She wanted help with her family tree, but wasn't able to help much. This detour meant I didn't get home to after 9.30.
When I got home I discover I had left the gate open in the yard, and Mitch was outside. Fortunately, he did not venture out and was sitting in the yard as good as gold. But, unfortunately, he wont come inside, so I am still sitting here waiting, yet again.
Hope you had a good weekend. [Didn't win the lottery :( ]

Busy busy
Seem to have something to do every day, but not achieving a lot.
Friday night Jay came over and stayed until I took him home late on Saturday afternoon. I then met a friend and we went to see The Black Swan. We both liked it even though at times it was hard to follow. The dancing and the music were great. Good acting too. Then went to the Thai restaurant for tea.
Didn't take photos, but came home and played hide and seek with Cinders. :)
Sunday I met friends in the city for lunch. Again, took the camera, but we were busy shopping for various things and forgot the camera. So no photos.
Monday we were going to go down to Phillip Island, but it was cold and on of the girls (four of us) had to stay close to home as her mother was ill. (Her mum is 92). We went locally for lunch.
Iced Chocolate, for me.
and a ham & salad focaccia, had chips as well. Very filling so took this half home for tea :)
Very artistic coffee but can't remember where this one was.
Tuesday I went out to Altona, which is the other side of the city, to help a friend with her family research. Unfortunately we didn't find out much. Took just over an hour to get there. Had lunch with her and her husband and then came home.
Before I left, this was what I could see.
When I came home about 3pm, this is what I could see.
When I went into the bedroom about 7pm, someone decided to stir. :0. What a shame I wasn't able to make the bed, well not until it was almost time to go to bed :)
Today I worked with morning and this afternoon I went with Jayden and Rohan to the Parent/teacher interview. His new teacher is quite happy with him which is good. She is also going to help him with strategies to help him with his spelling.
It is now Thursday and have just been able to add the photos. Wouldn't do it last night.
Should be doing the housework, but will start soon.
Have a great day.

Yippee
Went to check my lottery ticket and I won a prize...........................A whole $13. Just enough to buy this weeks ticket. :)
Ethan turned 5 yesterday, and Kirsty, (kindly) bought him and Liam over to have tea with Ro, Jayden and myself. Haven't seen the boys for nearly 3 weeks. She is being very naughty and keep away from me as well as Rohan.
Opening his presents from Dad and Jayden. Some games to play I think on the Playstation.
He and Jay. I had given him a cricket set, but was cooking tea so didn't get any photos of them playing. Then the rain started.
Blowing out the candles. I just bought an Ice Cream dessert, and put on the candles.
Liam decided that my hat would look better on him.
And Ethan was winning at a game of cards called Fish. He is wearing his school top.
All in all a pleasant time, with no friction which was nice.
Hope you are all well, and over the flu. Love, hugs and kisses.

No Lottery :(
Well, still didn't win the lottery, but had a win..................friends passed onto me some unwanted furniture.
The recliner, which when you sit in it and push back almost goes flat. Am sure I will fall asleep in it :)
Glenys and Rick gave me this, as they didn't have room for it! Said there was some wear on the arms, but I can't see it. They are two of the fussiest people I know. Still I am not complaining, because my other lounge suite was second hand and very uncomfortable. Also very heavy to move when vacuuming.
These two chairs came from Pauline and Bob, because they were wanting more room in their room. One chair has a cut on the arm, but not very noticeable. They are not quite the same colour as the recliner, but close enough.
On Sunday, I took Jayden to the National Sports Museum. It has lots of interactive sports, so Jay had lots and lots of fun, and I had fun watching him have fun. :)
Here he is trying his prowess on the bike.
Now archery. I must admit I had to try this myself. Didn't think to ask Jay to take a photo :(
This is to test your reflexes. You have to hit the buttons when they light up, and see how many you can get in a minute I think, or maybe two minutes. Not easy, you tend to miss the bottom ones.
I didn't take many photos of the exhibits as they were behind glass and didn't come out too well. Also predominately Australian Rules football and Cricket. Lots of our Olympic stars too. There was one exhibit of interest to me.
Unfortunately this was lit very well so had to use the flash, but this dress was what we school girls wore to do a dance on the Melbourne Cricket Ground, when Queen Elizabeth visited Australia for the first time after coming to the throne. It was such a big event for us then as we had never had a ruling monarch visit.
We were very honoured to be chosen to dance, and practiced at school several hours a week for nearly 12 months. I was lucky enough to be in the front row as we lined up on the ground and Her Majesty and Prince Philip drove around. Everyone was excited and we would line up for hours to see her drive past with all her jewels and beautiful dresses. How things change. How boring the design of the dress was too. :D
Got home to find that a fuse had blown whilst I was in the city. I didn't have any fuse wire, so had to get Nils to find some for me. He has EVERYTHING in his shed. Well it blew again, so Nils to come down and he bought one of the new switches we are supposed to have (my house being old hasn't been converted) but this kept blowing too. Even after switching everything off. I lost power to half the house. The other half was fine.
Called my friendly electrician and he have over, after tell me to use and extension lead, especially because the hot water service was affected. So was able to have a shower. :) The computer was off too, and had to unload the new freezer, fortunately, didn't have much in it.
Any was Glenn arrived flicked the switch and every worked fine. That was about 2pm and it just went again for no reason when I was in the middle of doing this post. Flicked the switch again, and so far so good.
The one with the blue switch is the offending fuse. As there has been lots of changes over the years, I probably should have a new switchboard put in, but that would be quite expensive. Also it is possible that the whole house needs rewiring. Again very expensive. Where is that lotter win when you need it. :0
Have a great week. Love and kisses, and hugs too. To you and your furry friends. And the family. :)

Weather
Can't take the credit for this beauty. Sent to me by Shaun, my elder son. This was last night, and looks like it was taken from the front of his house.
There was lots of thunder and lightning, at least at my place and not much rain early in the night. Rain in the early hours of the morning. Didn't sleep at all last night so am going to bed early. Mitch is inside, safe and sound.
Keep thinking money, money money. :)
Hope you are lots better. Have a great weekend my dear friend.

Animal antics
At least these two are getting on. Demi is still quite intimidated by both Cinders and Mitch. :)
Took some video, not sure which is which, so will download both. Had trouble with this stupid site before, it wouldn't open up the link to the photos or the videos. This time worked well.
Hope all is well. Love, kisses and hugs from all of us. Sorry about the background noise. Forgot to turn the tv off. :D Also lighting not so good.
Cinders seems to look up as ask "what is going on?"

50 years
Had Jayden for the night cause poor Rohan had a headache. Such a woss (meaning soft or not tough). So I had to take Jayden back before I went out to the party.
As usual, too busy talking to take early photos. There was baked potatoes and pumpkin, roast beef and chicken, and salad. The meat was very tender and the vegetables nicely cooked. It was held at the Archery Club at Launching Place, which is near where Jan and George live in Yarra Junction. About 20 km from me.
Lots of water lying around, as we had more rain yesterday.
The cake I did remember to take, and the happy couple.
For some reason, I was unable to establish, the theme of the place was Ned Kelly, our infamous bushranger.
Lots of statues and other memorabilia of him around.
If you don't know the story he has famous for wearing armour, particularly the helmet.
Couple of paintings. Tried to get an overall shot of the place for give you an idea but it was too dark.
Some of the bows they had on display.
Tried to take some shots on the way home, but because I was trying to drive carefully. I took mostly the dashboard of the car :D
This was another Ned Kelly theme, painted on a wallaby skin. The frame on the bottom right, "Such is life" is apparently what Ned Kelly said before he was hung.
Quite a nice day. Jan, Ruth and I worked together at our first jobs back in the '58. Which is scary as you weren't born until 10 years later. :-0
Hope you weekend has been good.

Friday,.. all day
Very sticky weather today, the temperature is only in the mid twenties, but the humidity is in the eighties.
Went to Healesville, about twenty minutes away, to buy the rose "Golden Anniversary" for my friends. So hard to think what to get someone for this type of celebration. Tried to download photos, but having trouble will try later.
Now, Saturday, and finally able to download the photos. Hope they like the rose. Would have liked it to be a bit more golden.
The rain came overnight, and it is still raining (Now 10am) took some videos during the night, not sure how well they will come out, or how good the sound is. Here goes. The videos are taking time to download so hope they work. I have no idea how to make a link to see them elsewhere. The first video you can hear the rain, but not see much, and seems to work better the second viewing, after all the buffering.
There is a lot of water laying around. As I have said, we are on a hill so flooding is not a problem, but there are lots of pools of water especially around the side of the house.
Because is was so hot I bought Mitch inside again. Ha, he said " thought this cat food was out of my reach, did you? Well, you thought wrong"
If I hid in among all these "trees" you can't get me :) Mitch seems to like being inside, but whilst he will come and sniff my ankles, as soon as I try to touch him, he hops away.
What was that? I don't like thunder and lightning :(
Ah, but if you pat me I will feel safe. This was in bed last night :D

Cooler
The cyclone up north was not as bad as expected, but we will feel the effects by the weekend, with some heavy rain.............or so they say :)
Did some of the jigsaw but couldn't get high enough to give a good overview and the board is too big for me to pick up on my own.
Someone, for once, decided to be a lap cat. Most unusual. Normally she will just sit beside you.
Headache today, so haven't done much. Bit of computer and a bit of jigsaw. Neither of which really help the headache. Still about to take some tablets and go to bed. Hope you day goes well.
Tomorrow I have to try and find a "Golden Anniversary" rose, as a gift for friends. Have left it to the last minute.............as usual.
Hugs and kisses. Glad for you it is snowing again. We could have done with that yesterday. :) Was so hot and sticky.
