Before Earth Hour

Well, Jayden left this morning, and although Ro came back here for a couple of hours, the place seems empty. Everything went smoothly.  We were at the airport in plenty of time, but due to road works missed the exit home and had to come the long way. 

This was his plane, couldn't quite get far enough back to get all the plane in.  Gee, the cockpit looks so tiny and cramped from here  :)  I was surprised how confidently he went off, which is good.  He has always been very timid, so hopefully he is growing up a bit.  I do hope he has a good time.  They are an hour behind in Queensland as they don't have daylight savings, so will ring him shortly, just before Earth Hour starts here which is in half an hour.

Had to show of my bromeliad.  The flowers are so spectacular aren't they.  I think I will buy some other varieties. I will have to try and find out this particular variety.  I tried but could quite match it.

Anyway, that is all the photos, tried getting Mitch with his ears up, but he kept moving  :D







Football is back and am going tomorrow afternoon.  Whoopee.

My sister and I are going up to Bendigo, which is a country town or city really, about 2 hours by train from the city.  They have a exhibition on Grace Kelly, photos and clothes.  Supposed to be very good.  This is on Tuesday.  So hope, if they let you take photos, to have something to show you then.

Busy littl bee

The week has simply flown past, and am so sorry you have not been well.

Monday night I had a EastWest Meeting,  our supporter group, and we had to send out newsletter as usual.  But the place we hold the meetings is being renovated and we had to adjourn to the outdoor area which is reserved for smokers.   Grrrr.  Just had the smell of smoke these days, and find it makes me very tight in the chest.  Never mind.    I didn't have to stamp and address all the envelopes this time, but I think we may be going back to that method, because I think in the long run, although it takes me a while to stamp and stick on the address labels, it is quicker, on the night anyway.

Tuesday saw me at the hairdressers in the morning for a colour and cut.  Then had to pick up Ro, who had to come again to look after Jay, as he did Monday night.  Then catch the train into the city to the Crown Casino for a football function, the Preseason Dinner.

 Entree was mushroom ravioli with sage butter and wild mushroom salad.  Not for me though, don't like mushrooms. :D

This young player was born on my 50th birthday.  Makes me feel old, and not sure how is makes you feel about me.

Main meal with braised beef in red wine sauce, and I was so hungry by this time that I forgot the
to take a picture, it was very tasty served on a bed of mashed potatoes with beans and cherry tomatoes.

This is the player that was sitting on our table.  Again a very nice young man with a great sense of humour.

This young man was you can see stands out on the field with his dreadlocks.  His surname is Dahlhaus, which sounds either Dutch or German to me, but not sure of his origins.  He is a pleasure to watch, not just for his hair but is a real dynamo on the field.  It was his first year last year and we expect big things of him this year.

It was a really good night.  But had trouble getting to sleep and then woke up early to this beautiful sunset..










Wednesday worked a little in the morning, did some data entry for our competition we have going,  then picked up Rohan to stay with Jayden, and on to an orientation night for my volunteering.  All about our "occupational health and safety" or in other words all the does and don'ts. 

Thursday had to take Jayden to the paediatrician for his prescription for his ADHD.  And today...........well today is another story. 

Woke up with a headache during the night and had to take two tablets to get rid of it, and a little bit of sleep.  Jay woke me up telling me he had head lice.  Had to treat him for that.  Pick up Rohan, take Eileen to see her husband, who was at a concert so we didn't see him.  Then take Rohan and Jay back to Rohan's place (Jay is staying for the weekend) then down to my niece's house to see Dave who is coming to Cornwall with me.  It is an hour away.  Home and into the washing.  Had to strip all the beds because of the head lice and a quiet night to myself. 

Hope you are feeling better................me, I am exhausted.  ;D

Went out for lunch on Tuesday with the girl that I shared a room with when we went to Vietnam.  Have only seen her once since.  She has lost lots of weight, but didn't get a photo of her, but did get one of this seagull  :0

This whole area is full of sporting complexes, including The Melbourne Cricket Ground, which hosts cricket, football and when necessary the Olympic and Commonwealth Games track events.


Well now that we have given you the grand tour.  Hope your weekend is good.  It is a long weekend here.  We have a public holiday on Monday, originally to celebrate the 40 hour working week, but now we celebrate Moomba, which is aboriginal for "let's get together and have fun"

Night Out

Took Jayden to see "How to train your Dragon" the stage show.  He hadn't been to a live show before.  He had seen the movie and now loved the show.  We went in early and had something to eat.  Then walked up to where the show was being held.  It was at one of the tennis arenas, which have a retractable roof.  Which for this was closed.












The photos didn't come out too well.  Even though we had the most expensive seats, we were still 12 rows from the front.  My camera doesn't have a very good zoom.

This one was called Nadder and you can see the actors and get an idea of the size of these robotic creations.  Fantastic. 

Lots of smoke and lights as well. 

Then they were hoisted into the air with riders on them, not sure if you can make them out, and "flew" around the arena.  So spectacular.  I think I enjoyed it more than Jayden.....well as much as anyway.

Took a couple of video shots but will try and add them another time, because it is late and they take ages to load.  Hope you weekend is good.

Sun is out.

After a few days of rain, and lots of flooding up north near the border, the sun has come out.

Not much to tell.  Did go out for lunch with a distant cousin.  I had a photo of our mutual ancestor, which she had lent me to try and restore and copy.  My great grandmother, and her great great grandmother.  Unfortunately it is very faded and the copy wasn't much better than the original.  Never mind.

Just had a toasted cheese and ham on sour dough bread.  With a little side salad.  (Which I didn't eat as I keep forgetting to tell people... no dressing )

Kendrea had satay chicken and rice, but forgot the photo....yet again.  Nearly forgot mine too  :D

Doing some knitting while relaxing in my dressing gown.  I had some company too, and Jay insisted on a photo.  Finally getting around to finishing off the mother-in-law's jacket.  Just the two fronts to go.

Well, dishes are done, washing in nearly finished, floors are swept, games on computer are done, the sun is shining, so out to the garden......if it is not still too wet.
