One of the features of the new computer is it has a memory card reader, so, of course, I have to try it out.
I think Cinders is hiding from Demi, but then again, maybe from Mitch. :D
Went to visit a friend with whom I worked at my very first job, (before you were born) in the late 1950's and we have kept in touch. She lives at Yarra Junction, which is about 30 km from here. In the Yarra Valley. Pretty spot, but too much traffic to take photos from the car. This is her little dog Lettie. Very friendly, part poodle, maltese, shitzau and part lhaso apso, I think that is what she said. Whatever she is cute.
Because they are in the mountains, it is quite cold. Had the fire going but still cold in the rest of the house at first. Lovely pumpkin soup and rolls for lunch. And lots of talking. Jan does genealogy too, so that took up lots of time. Was also able to help with a few things like deleting things from her computer, She had two antivirus programmes and they slowed the computer down. She wasn't game to delete one.
Also our radio network is going digital. (why do they always have to change things :( ) and she had a new digital radio but didn't know how to tune it, so was able to do that too. ( I sometimes amaze myself =D )
Anyway, a good day, and home in time to fiddle with my new computer. Can't get it to recognize the printer from the laptop yet, but I am working on it.
Must admit the photos downloaded extremely quickly which is great :)
Don't think things are quite in order but this was a "Mexican stand off" trying to outstare each other, but just after the photo, Demi pounced on poor Cinders.
Just miss this shot, Cinders was on the top step and Mitch on the second step, but had opened the door before I grabbed the camera, so they had moved.
Jay played in a finals of the school football competition. Lovely week ground., Love the pose of the kid in the background.
Jay is number 24.
Have a great weekend, enjoy your cook-off. =D

My weekend
Really didn't do much this weekend. Did some knitting. Another coat hanger, as still having trouble getting my vest right, so decided to have a break.
Football on Saturday, so Jay stayed over on Friday night.
Sunday went shopping and bought the cable, but not working very well.
Did manage to download 6 of the 25 or so photos, all of Ethan. :)
I persevered and I did it, but don't ask me how =D
This was Jay with the new hat I bought him for the football.
I think I told you I went out for lunch a month or so ago and this was the pie I had for lunch.
The pear tart for desert
and the hot chocolate. Lovely silvery cups.
It was at an art gallery and we weren't supposed to take photos. But couldn't resist the view from the window. =D
This was the sky tonight taken with my phone.
The same sky with the camera. Amazing the difference in the colouring.
Some jonquils flowering in the garden.
The magnolia about to bloom. This one looks like it has a bonnet on. :)
This one has shed its coat.
Found out today, that now my computer is kaput. The power pack as died and Max tried several others and can't get it to work, so he is hoping to put the hard drive in another machine so I can retrieve anything I haven't backed up. Also some of my programmes. Keep your fingers crossed or what ever the saying you have is, I have forgotten, even though I remember you telling me I and thought it was a lovely saying.
Always something isn't there. Time for bed. Mitch is inside for a change so can go and sleep peacefully.
Be well!
PS. So sad what has happened in Norway. My heart goes out to all those who have lost loved ones.

Busy Wednesday
We started off the day with going down to Carrum, which is on Port Phillip Bay. This was to scatter the ashes of my ex-husband. Because he didn't want a conventional funeral, there were only a few of my friends, one family from his baseball club and family.
It was a bit sad as when the Pastor asked if anyone wanted to speak, no one (not even his sons) spoke up. His mother, two sons and his wife, went out on the Coast Guard boat, and the rest of us walked down to the beach and they stopped just off shore and scattered the ashes. We then went back to the Coast Guard (he had been a volunteer there) and had tea and biscuits. Then on the a local hotel and had lunch.....
Had our big fund-raising dinner as well. I won the table raffle. Which as you can see is a caricature. This young man was sitting on our table and he is holding his father who also played with our team. Very good likeness.
Didn't take photos of the food cause it was a very busy night. So either listening to the panels
One of the new recruits, originally from South Africa. Jason Johanssen.
This is young Mitch being interviewed as you can see how like the caricature he is.
This is the cheque presented on the night.
These are two more guests. The lady is a patron of the club (very rich lady) and the gentleman is the football manager.
Two more of the guests. The theme of the night is Young Guns (new recruits) and Legends, (past players).
It is interesting hearing the young ones ambitions and confidence. It is also amusing to here the anecdotes from the past players. Some of them very funny.
A good night, but not as financially successful as we had hoped. Things are not good here at the moment, and people are being a bit more frugal that normal.
But still a very enjoyable night. We can sit back and relax now.
Catch you soon.

Waiting
Still waiting for my cable to arrive from China. They keep me advised of its progress, by telling me Mr Pigeon is so far into its trip, but sees awfully slow to me.
Had a heart scan the other day to because I am short of breath on exertion, but fortunately it is normal................unfortunately that means I am unfit :( Guess I have to do more exercise.
Some of my irises, which are very profuse this year.
And a friend gave me some Kniphofia or the common name is Red Hot Poker. It is a bit limp here but should pick up with the rain we are having.
This was just after I planted it. Might need to stake it up for a while.
Have finished the laminating and the stamping and labelling of the envelopes for our newsletter, been to the footy and we lost :( So don't think we will play in the finals this year. Jayden stayed over on Saturday night but didn't want to come to the footy as he had to go back to school today (Monday). School holidays are over.
Not much else to report. Had to pull out the front of vest I am knitting, as I didn't have the increasing or the decreasing even. Really having problems with this thing. Will finish it eventually. Might have to bring it over with me for you to finish =D
Hope you have a great week.

Busy
That time of year again, and am busy laminating.
This is one side. Pictures of the special guests and information about the auction and door prizes etc.
This side gives you the menu and the list of guests and the unavoidable promotion of sponsors etc. ONLY 250 to laminate. We had hoped to increase our numbers and have changed venues. Ah well, maybe more next year.
Finally had Ethan to stay over last night. He had to help with tea. He wanted roast lamb. So he shelled the peas all by himself. Did a great job.
Note the nail polish. :)
Then he had to check and see how much was in his money box. =D
Still wet and windy so not much happening outside.
Hugs and kisses always.

Visiting.
Have tried to download a video, took ages, hope it has worked.
Her granddaughter came over. Boy, can she talk. she is 9 and never stops. She is a real pet.
Gwynne also has a pet magpie, well, one that comes for be fed. She calls out when she comes. She only has one eye and a deformed foot, so am surprised that she survived. Most birds kick deformed babies out of the nest.
It is amazing that she can hold on in a tree.
Jay is here and there is a disturbance outside. Some young man having a psychotic episode, ?? drugs. He is crying out, no shirt on and it is quite cold. The police are there and are just watching him. Maybe waiting for the psych team to arrive. Sad.
Anyway................ have a good weekend.

Retail Therapy.
Went out the other day and decided I needed to check out my favourite store. Been looking for winter track pants. In grey, black or navy blue. They didn't have any last time I looked, and this time I had a feeling. Sooooo went looking and
This gives you a better picture of the top.
They also had a denim jacket which I have wanted for a long time too. Happy happy me :) :)
These are the pants in grey, but bought navy as well. Decided I should stop at two pairs. Can't wait until I can wear them. The pants are so warm looking. Hope they are as warm as they look and feel.
Have been trying to copy video to DVD. Have done half the process and hit a snag. (problem) It is late now so will try again tomorrow. I think I will have to use the desktop to finish off, and it is too cold in the office.
Hope you are well and safe.

Wet Tuesday.
Have tried numerous times to upload a video, but without success. So I give up. Not sure what the problem is, either tells me there is an error uploading or takes forever. Like over 10 minutes.
She had had a fall and cut her thumb severely. Caught it on the door. Had to have stitches in it and had to wait nearly 3 hours at the doctors to have it done.
Guess what, forgot to take pictures again. (well, except the left overs :D )
There wer not rolls left, and all the tomato and eggs are gone.
There is some lemon tart left though. Which Annie brought. Poor Jan was in quite a lot of pain. Didn't stop us talking lots though :)
Jay has been with me since yesterday (Monday). As it is school holidays, and I am taking him to see Kung Fu Panda 2 in 3D soon. How exciting. (for him anyway.)
Cold wet and windy, hope the weather is better over there. Thinking of you. Hugs and kisses.

Sad news.
My ex-husband passed away this evening.
Shaun rang me last night (Friday) to say he didn't think he would survive the weekend. So cancelled my plans and took Rohan and Jay down to see him... He was not conscious. His mum and sister and wife were there too. Hilary (wife) seemed to think he knew we were there, but I am not so sure. Anyway, his suffering is over, so peace for him.
I think I was more upset for my boys. As I may have told you they don't really talk to each other, but they did hug when we left today. Shaun had arrived not long after we did. He stayed till his father died, which was good. I don't think Ro would have handled it. But he is glad he got to say goodbye.
Onto happier things..............Liam is here overnight. He is so good. He didn't cry when he left his mum, maybe because Jay and Ro were with me when I picked him up. Came inside and wandered around playing with the toys, good as gold. Ate his tea.............no fuss. Had his bath
Which he loved, apart from not letting his dummy (pacifier) out of his mouth. Then dressed and to bed. Again, no fuss. Has a bear with a hot pack inside and a musical bear. And haven't heard a sound since.
Didn't quite come out as didn't want to wake him with the flash.
Having trouble posting so will try again later.
