Saturday, and trying again

Tried to post earlier but it got lost in the ether.  I tried drag and drop with some photos and think that was the problem.

Didn't do a lot during the week except prepare for our Legends and Young Guns dinner on Thursday night.   Had to laminate 210 placemats.  Down from last years 250.  We changed nights, has been Wednesdays for many years.  Think that and the economy accounts for the drop in numbers.

I had so much running around to do on Thursday I left my camera at home.  Surprise surprise.

I had to go over the Mulgrave to assist with the setting up of the tables and the raffle, then come home and collect Ro and drive to my friends so I could borrow her car, so Ro could take Jay to basketball practice.  Then home and get ready. The camera didn't enter my mind.  It is usually in my handbag, but not this time.  So I am waiting for my collegue, whose camera I used to take all the photos to send them to me.

It was a great night.  Interesting talks and interviews and the food was good.

Been collecting the eggs from Joan's.  The chooks (hens) are nearly the end of their laying so found these different sizes.  Be interesting if the littlest one is edible.
These two were sheltering from the rain.  :D
A friend asked me to a magic show tonight.  Was quite good.  They moved too fast though for really good pictures.
The rope trick is quite an old one but still good.
This couple did some juggling and acrobatics and later some dancing.  Not too bad either.

The balancing here was ok, but not caught at the right moment, sorry.

Didn't go too late.  The main magician is actually a fellow badminton player.  I had forgotten that he did magic, and was not aware,  as I don't play and had lost contact, that he was quite professional.  Sells lots of tricks and puts on regular shows.

Jay played his basketball again today and they lost their first game.  They have had 2 draws, but not lost.  Still five weeks to go.

Football again tomorrow, but am going on my own.  Ron has lost interest as we are not winning.  Hate fair weather followers.  Win, lose or draw I like to be there.

Hope you have a great weekend, and the weather is better than here.  Rain and more rain.

Garden day

Finally found time for the garden, when the weather was ok.  The redhot pokers are out and quite colourful.
The lemon tree is laden with fruit, and I had already pick quite a few.
Discovered that the cyclamen that I thought was lost suddenly has flowered.
Camellia time too, this one is beautiful.
The begonias have really loved all the rain and have grown heaps since I put them in.  Not sure if it was last year, but I think so.
This tiny bush will be lovely when it is a bit bigger, the flowers are very pretty.
The lillipilli is laden with fruit too.  They say you can make jam, but not sure how it would taste.
As you can see here, it is quite a large tree.  The berries are every where and I still haven't swept the path so I don't slip on them :D

But as you can see it was a beautiful day.  Planted all the tulips and daffodils, some hyacinths and freesias too.  Hope I am not too late for this year.
And this is all that is left after my resident pruning machine had finished with it.    Dear sweet Mitch.  Just hope it will be all the better for the pruning.

Work today, and minding Liam and Ethan tomorrow for a little while, that will be nice.

Am going to a pilates class in the morning.  Not sure what it all involves, but hope to get a bit fitter.

Hope all is well, and the migraine has gone, or better still didn't arrived.

As time goes by

Seems ages and has been since the last posting.  Lots happening but also not much that is newsworthy :D

Thought Cinders looked cute from this angle.  :D

 And this one today,

 from another angle.

Friends !!!!!!!  Just as long as you eat out of your own bowl.

Jay went to Ro's for a few days as I had a meeting on Monday night.  Tuesday was going to take my friend to see her husband, but she rang as wasn't well.  Took her to the doctors and she finished up in hospital with heart problems for a couple of days.  Home now and will try and take her to see hubby this week.  Spent a bit of time with her till she was taken to the hospital by ambulance and then had to find her daughter to tell her what had happened.

Worked on Wednesday, and in the afternoon went to the market to see about getting Jayden's ipad fixed.  He dropped it and broke the screen.

Thursday not sure, but some time in the week I bought some bulbs, but haven't had a dry day to plant them yet.  Getting a bit late too.  Did plant some garlic and that seems to be growing well.  Will try for some photos tomorrow.

Thursday night went out to dinner at the football club.  Bit of mix up as they didn't have our booking so had to put us with the players on the spare table.  What a shame.

Forgot the main meal, which was chicken.  But the dessert was ok, a chocolate cheesecake.
One of the players with Gwen, the poor boy couldn't eat as he has just had a plate put in to fix his broken jaw.   Ouch.

This is one of the other players.  I have a copy of a caricature of him which I won last year.  But you may not remember.

Friday I went and picked up Jay's ipad, and saw my sister as the repair place was quite near her.  $150 later.  Hope he is a bit more careful in future.

Saturday Jay played basketball again, and I had to score, which was interesting as I have no idea about basketball, even though Shaun played and was referee for many years.  Sunday went to the football and we lost again.  Not a good season for us this year.

Today I have just been cleaning.  Did relent and rang my other son.  I haven't seen them since I came back.  Guess I know where I stand.  He went to see his Nan (Grandmother) but couldn't come and see his mum.

Not much rain today, so after cleaning the rest of the house tomorrow, I may have time to plant those bulbs.

Hope all is well.  Hugs and kisses.

School Holidays

Jay has been at this dad's for quite a few days.  Home today with his mate for a sleepover.  Have been quite busy, with work on Wednesday, Jay to see his counsellor on Tuesday, Thursday spent cleaning and looking for my other camera memory card, which I have yet to find. It has a lot of my Scotland photos on it.  And some Cornwall ones too.  Must be here somewhere but hope I haven't thrown it out accidentally.  Still means I have cleaned up at least half of my office :D

Friday I went to the hospital again.  Still no buddy, don't know where she has gone.  Still the morning went quickly, not nearly as busy as the previous visit, but still enjoyed and met some more lovely people.

Saturday I had almost forgotten, but we had a school reunion.  Don't think I have been to one since I started blogging.

These are girls I went to our technical school with.  And we met on the first Saturday in July every year.  Well, not all of us are there every year, but four of the girls in  the picture are usually there.  My best friend from my childhood, Margaret is the one in black.

Didn't like the food, very Greek and not to my taste, also lots of fish.  Meant to take some photos outside but forgot.  Sorry looked quite nice too. I met Margaret in the city and we caught the tram down to St. Kilda which is on the beach.  It was a lovely sunny day, but the wind was quite cold.

Came home and went down the the local club because I thought I was meeting friends for tea, but seems I got it wrong.  Bit of fault on both sides, because I assumed it was a definite date, but apparently invitations were going to be sent.  Never mind.  Went and bought Chinese food for tea, which was quite nice.

Today picked up Jay and Will and after lunch I went and picked up the precious letter that I have been meaning to have framed for, hate to admit it, but Dad died in 1976 and I have had the letter since then.  Still it is done now and hopefully has been preserved.  The letter asks Dad to play for the team that I support (Barrack for, but not sure if you know the word barrack)  which then was known as Footscray Football Club.  Anyway, he was unable to accept the invitation to play for them, and carried that letter in his wallet till he died.

You cant see here what it said, but you can see how it has been well read.  Hopefully as it has been done to archive standard it will last at least another 80 years.  It was sent in 1930.

Another sunny day to may go and plant some bulbs, though it may be a little late as they have already started to grow.

Keep well and safe,  hugs and kisses.
