A flying trip.

Many years ago I befriended someone in Adelaide, which is the capital city of South Australia, if you didn't know.  At the time her daughter(Rebecca) was 4 and when we went to stay Bec took a liking to me, which has endured to this day.  Long story, but Bec became engaged this weekend to Anit and I was invited to their engagement party in Adelaide.

Another shot closer to the airport.  It takes about an hour to get to there from home.

I went over by Tiger Airways, which is a new domestic, no frills airline.

Sorry, not a very good shot of the plane.  Because Tiger is new, it is not part of the main airport, and doesn't have airbridges.  It was quite cold walking out to the plane.  It was very windy and we have had a lot of rain.  It snowed in some places overnight.

 Taxing to the runway.
 Just after take off.
Just near the airport is the Calder Raceway.  Called the Thunderdome.  Not Formula One, but super cars and drag races too, are held there.  We used to go there a lot before we had the children.

This is coming into to land at Adelaide,  and just a note, that it only takes 50 minutes to fly there, but an hour to just to  get to the airport :D

This is a view of the centre of Adelaide, which has a population of just over 1 million.

Caught a bus from the airport, and took about 20 minutes to get into the city centre.  Free ride for seniors, which is nice.  A bonus for being old :)

Then caught a tram down to South Terrace, where my motel was.  That only took about 5 minutes.

The motel is very basic,  I have stayed there before.

The rooms are very basic, but clean enough.

The bed was comfortable, and I only slept there.  Arrived in time to take a walk and some pictures before changing to go to the party.

I will try and put some more pictures,  (I took a million of them) tomorrow.

Hope you had a good weekend. Hugs and kisses

Wow! Looks so nice! The shots out of the flying airplane are effective. It is funny how the travel can take time - we, too, have about an hour's way (bit less) to the airport and then mostly the sixty minute flight to either Helsinki or Arlanda, Sweden. Though if not taking a flight the rest of the trip would take much, much longer. :)
