Thursday

Today I had to go into the city to have my eyes checked. When I bought new glasses last year they found that the optic nerve as a little damaged and they want to keep a check on it. So have to go into the Optomery College near the city. This is a service provided to pensioners free. The first photo is of a shot tower, which is heritage listed, so when the new underground was built this tower was enclosed within the shopping centre situated above the station.
I tried to get a good photo of the escalators taking us down to the actual station, but as it wasn't well like, the flash didn't carry far enough. This one is fairly steep, but one of the other stations (there are only three underground) is very long and steep.

Also took a few street shots for you. A small church in the main street of town, and a newspaper vendor on the corner.

Another street shot of the trams in Swanston St.

And the front of our State Library.

It was a dull day, but fortunately stopped raining by the time I arrived in the city.  Had to go quite a few stations away from home to find somewhere to park.  That is the one of the  problems with our rail system, there is limited parking at the railway stations.

So many nice photos! Thank you! =D

Funny looking that tower under the glass sealing, but nice that it still stands there!

We also have some limited parking near railwaystations, but there is a parking hall under ground that costs something to keep your car safe there while you are travelling. Have never used it though. We are always trying to get someone to drive us and then to pick up again, so that there's no need to leave the car anywhere.

Hope your eyes are ok!

My eyes are just getting old. They are keeping watch on my optic nerve. There is some fraying, which could mean glaucoma, but the pressure was fine. One more test next week and then they will probably check again next year.

Hope nothing bad will be found. Eyesight is quite important, though there are many blind people coping just fine. I keep my thumbs up for you!
