Quite a nice trip down, had two lovely ladies at different stages of the trip to chat too.
Found the cottage, which is a few miles off the road in a village called Tresillian. The cottage is an old one but had been totally renovated inside. It is very very nice. The rooms are great and the view are fabulous. The hosts are very nice. Barry is the one who does all the work, gets breakfast, cleans the rooms, and maintains the garden, as Lucy works full time. He is a retired farmer and is 25 years old they let slip.
This is Venton Berron Cottage, the part on the right above and including the garage have been added on.
Up and had toast for breakfast. I found some Lemon Cheese (Lemon Butter or curd) depending on where you come from, so bought that yesterday and had it on toast for breakfast.
We then took off for St. Enoder, as the church is on one side of the freeway (motorway, sorry) we had to back track a few times, but found it.
We then explored the attached grave yard and found a few Francis graves
Not easy to read here but have transcribed. Then as we were leaving noticed another headstone with one leaning against it, and the one behind was John and Elizabeth Francis, our great great grandparents. Was so excited.
This one for for one of the Cock family who are related.
We then managed to find the township and the post office and the postmaster very kindly sent us off in the right direction to find the farm. It is now a haulage company, but they let us photograph the house, as there was no-one in the house, and he was working. We couldn't go inside, but am sure it has been modernized. But still exciting to see.
We then went on to Chacewater which was a bit of a let-down as we couldn't find much at the church and its cemetery.
We had a drink at a pub, and then went for a drive to the coast. A place called Perranporth which is a surf beach. Didn't go down to the beach but took photos from the hill above.
Looks very nice.
Came home with the aid or can't think of the right word, but we were definitely lead up the proverbial garden path by the satnav in the car. (Not mine Joan) It took along back road, some of which didn't even rate a name. So narrow it was fortuitous that we didn't meet any on-coming traffic. It did eventually lead us home but I think via Alaska. Poor Dave had a headache as a result of the continuous concentration.
Think we went on road, no-one from Australia anyway, has ever travelled.
Barry offered us afternoon tea, which was nice, as that is not included in the tariff. And we sat and enjoyed the sunshine, and the garden whilst we planned tomorrow.
I cam up and started this blog, and Dave went and took some photos near the property in the woods.
We then went to the Wheel Inn again.
Tonight I had gammon steak with egg and chips, the small size and still couldn't eat it, and forgot to take a photo.
Last night we had the sausages and mash with onion gravy. Which was very nice too. The vegetables are definitely free. The peas were really nice.
Back home here by eight o'clock. Finishing of the blog. Lots more photos, but figure this is enough for one night. Might get an early night. Off to St. Just and Land's End tomorrow to follow the Trezise family.
