Too much on my mind. Spoke to Jay and he is upset. Wants to stay but missing us too. Poor kid. Must be so hard for him. He has had a good time so that is a plus.
Been a busy week. To Shaun and Mandy's to see Sam and Max for Easter on Sunday, then on Monday to see Kieron and Rhys. Tuesday- morning tea with friends. Wednesday to my cousin's funeral. They had a viewing of casket, and I saw my first deceased person. I am not sure of your customs, but not many here have an open coffin. I am glad I got to say goodbye, but sorry because he didn't look like the person I knew as he had lost so much weight. He had had pancreatic cancer.
There was a church service and then we walked over the the cemetery across the road, and the coffin arrived in this old hearse. Which was appropriate as Noel collected and restored vintage cars. One of his passions.
These are the flowers which were on top of the casket and from which we took a flower to place in the grave. That is a sad part of the ceremony. It is such a final gesture.
Then we went back for tea and light refreshments, but there were so many people that they ran out of food. There would have been about 200 people there. Noel was a much loved character. He was friendly, witty and generous with his time to those he loved and liked. Sadly missed by a lot of people.
But live goes on. Thursday I had Ethan over to stay, and Kirsty doesn't want Rohan to see Ethan, unless she is there or it is in public. For reasons known only to her. So I took him to the shopping centre near Rohan and we had ice-creams and did some shopping.
Ethan and I came home and we made up his new Lego hero figure and had roast lamb for tea. Read some books before bed, and played some computer games after breakfast, before he went home before lunch.
After lunch I did my first session at the hospital. We visited quite a few patients, gave out magazines and "trauma teddies" which are knitted bears, made by volunteers for the children. Also cups of tea to those with the patients, as most patients are not allowed because they might require surgical treatment. Talked to some lovely people, an older gentleman waiting for his wife to bring in his dentures, a married couple, the wife being from Indonesia and they were both very talkative about their business, which is a boutique and cafe. All in all a very pleasant experience. I think I will enjoy it most time.
In between all this I had to do all this data entry for our football tipping competition, where we have to try and guess who will win each week. And we have to work it out at the beginning of the season. There are 23 rounds, and 9 games each round. So lots to put in. But all finished now, thank goodness.
Tomorrow I pick up Jay and will be very glad to have him back.
Did manage to get this rather gorgeous photo of Mitch. Well I think so anyway.
Hope you are all better. Keep well and safe. Hugs and kisses to all, two and four legged members of the household. :D

Couldn't see the photos, but you really seem to have been busy lady there! No wonder you are waiting for getting Jay back. :)
Funerals are always sad occations, though there would be how important people with you. At least I feel it so. We have a separate visiting for the closest ones if they want to see the deceased. At the funeral the casket is always closed (this was different at old times, though). People bring their own flowerarrangements with their last greetings to the deceased and they read them one by one near the coffin. At winter it's always done indoors, but summertime it's usually at the grave. Family members can throw a rose to the coffin before it's covered with a casing where all the flower arrangements are then put and will be there as long as the grave is filled - could be like this for several days. Don't really know why.
Will come back later to see if I can open the photos, as well.
Here again. Now I see the photos, too! Funeral car looks really stylish and suitable and flowers beautiful. Different from ours, though. And Mitch is SO cute! <3 <3 <3 Great shot!
Good you had a good first session in the hospital. Valuable work, it is! I should think every time it will be a different case for you. We would need something similar here in Finland, but there's no possibilities at the moment. Two small places everywhere. Lets hope our first Furry Friend visit will be as good as yours. ;)
