Just had to take a photo of the gloriossa lily. It doesn't flower long but it is very different. This is the first year it has flowered for ages and my last rabbit used to chop it down before it had time to flower.
Jayden's birthday today. He turned 11. Where to the years go? We had home made fish and chips and salad, which I forgot to photograph and Rohan did a great job of battering and cooking the fish, and making the chips. Was very yummy.
Jay also wanted a white chocolate mud cake for his birthday. This we bought from the bakery though. His birth mother is in Queensland, a four hour plane trip, and she hasn't been down to see him for two years. And as Ro and his step mother have split, it was a very quiet affair. Just one of his cousins and her mum and step dad.
He was given a lava lamp for this birthday amongst other things and he loves it.

What a great photo of the flower! Never seen anything like it before. And also the birthday seemed to go by with the dearest people and a wonderful cake to eat. Teenage years are starting soon. =o)
Don't remind me, not looking forward to teenage years.
The Gloriossa Lily comes from South Africa. Apparently the tuber is toxic.
